True, but, try washing every now and again.....even tho I support the natural truck washes (rain), sometimes a quick wash/rinse will help...
Water and carwash soap is a hell of a lot cheaper than high-end brake pads that are supposed to reduce dust, IMO.

I have an 02 with the smaller rotors. I originally had marginal brake performance when towing and sometimes without towing. Originally I switched to Raybestos Super Stop pads to improve brake performance. They worked excellent but did still have some brake dust.
About 15,000 miles ago I needed new pads and found Raybestos stopped making the Super Stop pads. I heard about a high performance brand called Akebono which are ceramic. I decided to try them. They have just as good brake performance as the Super Stop pads and they generate very little brake dust. After running them for 15,000 miles I see no excessive wear on the rotors and the pads are wearing well also. There is no noise coming from them and pedal pressure is not high. In fact I sometime have to take care not to apply too much pressure on the pedal.
Akebono pads are not cheap but I don't consider them outrageous either. I bought mine at RockAuto.com.

ok so I guess I'm going with the Motorcraft pads. BUT... on the rock auto website there are 2 kinds....
"Part # BR11438....{#1U2Z2V001AA}Standard Premium - Integrally Molded D833; Front" - 39.95
& there are these for 79.95MOTORCRAFT Part # BRF1399.....Standard Premium, OE Design
anybody have installed either one of these? is it even worth the $35 extra for the 2nd option?

I've been running Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramics for a few years now and I've been VERY satisfied with their performance slowing down heavy 35" tires. Had Centric Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallics before and that's why I was chose their Ceramics. I'd still be running the Semi-Met's if it weren't for a bearing failure taking out a rotor and pair of pads. No dust at all. Very quiet. I'm also running their Posi-Quiet Semi-Met pads on my Explorer rear discs.
CENTRIC Part # 10508330. Posi-Quiet Ceramic w/Shims. $34.79 from RockAuto.
I've ran Hawk HPS pads before and they were loud and very dusty.
With how often you do brakes, why spend nearly double the price for a Motorcraft part??? You're buying a name in my opinion...
