That hose is not going to hold up to the refrigerant or the pressure in the system. Also no shop will recharge it with a repair like that. Just do it right and go to the dealer and have it fixed.

Notice how the fitting on the stock hose were hydraulically compressed fittings? Those hose clamps are likely going to fail. Go to a shop and have it fixed correctly. Good attempt though...

um yeah, DO NOT even attempt to charge the system with that on there.

call up your local auto parts store and order the new line, it might be a dealer only item.

To answer the question, don't attempt to run the AC, that is the lubricant for the compressor. Until you can get a shop to replace the hose and properly has lube and recharge, unplug the wires to the compressor to make sure it does not come on and burn itself up.

Thanks for all the input. I've got a friend that works for a bobcat repair place. We're thinking of using a hydraulic line and crimping those fittings to it. Hopefully it will work out.

your a/c compressor shouldnt even turn on without refrigerant so runing the a/c shouldnt hurt any thing.. but it is pointless. your hose clamps will fail and you will have to recharge it in a few weeks if the hose doesnt explode. AND if a shop recharges that system they are breaking the law due to it not being regulation. replace the hose.. go offroading get the truck really dirty so the hose doesnt look new. then take it to the dealer and if its under warentee they will most likley recharge it and put dye in the oil to look for a leak. but since the leack is fixed you wont have to go back.

I just replaced mine and even with a SAS and no inner fenders, it was probably one of the most annyoing things to replace on the truck... I got mine from Ford, but I got a discount so mine was only like $98. Then you really need a pro to recharge the system so that they can suck out all the old oil and replenish the system. That's def not going to work...
