Patch job on that line won't work.
Your AC system cycles from ( roughly ) 65 to 180 ( or more ) PSI in pressure. Those 1$ hose clamps and hoses will NOT hold such.
Its pointless to put a band-aid on and spend the cash to re-fill the A/C system, just have it done right the first time and save the cash.

your a/c compressor shouldnt even turn on without refrigerant so runing the a/c shouldnt hurt any thing.. but it is pointless. your hose clamps will fail and you will have to recharge it in a few weeks if the hose doesnt explode. AND if a shop recharges that system they are breaking the law due to it not being regulation. replace the hose.. go offroading get the truck really dirty so the hose doesnt look new. then take it to the dealer and if its under warentee they will most likley recharge it and put dye in the oil to look for a leak. but since the leack is fixed you wont have to go back.

I just replaced mine and even with a SAS and no inner fenders, it was probably one of the most annyoing things to replace on the truck... I got mine from Ford, but I got a discount so mine was only like $98. Then you really need a pro to recharge the system so that they can suck out all the old oil and replenish the system. That's def not going to work...
