So I FINALLY got a OHC. I wanted the one with the garage button but oh well. That would just be more wiring. The black button there is like fake or something. It has a metal clip inside it though. Who knows. Before I left I was smart enough to cut out the cut out (HAHA) for the OHC. As so as I mount it I will sell it off for like $5 shipped to anyone who needs it. Unfortunately someone else started to pull the OHC and left it hanging so I don't have the 4-6 screws I need to mount it. I'll have to make a hardware run. It'll be a guessing game though since I don't have a reference. I have no idea where to be begin to wire it up and I didn't grab the temp sensor. Honestly I really just wanted the light and the sun glasses case (and the garage button ). I could care less about the temp and magnetic direction I'm going. Maybe I will wire it up to tell the time.

I pulled a grab handle from a Ranger to mount on my driver side. Since I am a 2000 I have the handles on the ceiling, not on pillars. I always wanted one on the driver side to pull myself into the truck.

I used the same Expo as a donor for mt disk brake project. Mind you this is the first time I have ever worked on a differential. So I studied Bill Rebola's how-to on 31-spline disc brakes last night and took my knowledge with me. I did the whole spider block thing with the C clips and whatnot. After I figured out that I needed to remove the cross pin (duh) I was good to go. I so I started to disassemble the drivers side. Pulled the axle shaft. Threw it into the bed of a nearby truck and started to pull the brakes apart. All went well in disassembly. The parking brake hardware was toast but it would have needed replaced anyway. All I really needed is the caliper and hardware, rotors, and backing plates. All pads and other hardware are cheap at Autozone. I got it all down to the backing plates, the ONE THING I cannot get aftermarket for less than $100 a piece, the ONE THING I REALLY NEED. I didn't take hacksaw or any heavy duty cutters, again, even aftermarket I made the same mistake when I pulled the leaf springs last time. And I didn't take my wrench set. Only sockets. So I had to cut the brake hose for the caliper (didn't want to do that). And I couldn't get through the parking brake line with my pocket knife. A whole hour of work in pouring down rain and I got beat by a parking brake line. So I gave up and had to leave a nice neat pile of perfectly good brake components sitting in an Explorer in Pull-A-Part. I give them 2 days before they are gone. The calipers were in GREAT shape to. The rubber boots weren't cracked or dry rotted. The brake hoses and junctions were in top notch shape. SON OF A B*TCH!!! I HATE PARKING BRAKES!!! I would have gone back but I needed to eat and clean up to go to work.

I will have a chance to go again Monday. Hopefully I will be able to get everything I left and finish up. This time with a hacksaw.


So, anybody have any JY stories where they F'ed up and had to leave something awesome or destroyed something in the yard, or anything?

 

That black button is for the garage opener. The idea is to position the garage door opener that you have in that opening so the ohc button hits the button on your garage door opener. The OHCs never came with a "real" garage opener button.

The wiring to make the temp and compass fully functional is really quite easy. just go back and grab that temp sensor because you know you'll want to do it eventually.

 

Yeh there is plenty is a goood wiring guide on here some place, its pretty easie I'm on my phone or id link it for you, just search, and def grab the temp sensor.

 

Just dont drill though your roof,mounting it was the hardest.

Cool. That should work good then.

Only problem is some of the inner hardware is gone so the "button" pops out of place. It should have 2 "screws" that hold it in and one is missing.

Otherwise I'm happy with it. I like that it is the older one with the green filter that matches my inside colors.

Maybe when I go back and get my disk brake parts I will grab it.

 

ya drill bits like to dent the roof when they go through the first layer of metal... ask me how i know this!
