without a picture or info on the light bar, it will be very hard to help you with info. use a new switch, and relay.

I for one think separate switches for each pair of two lights; if one set goes bad then you still have the other to work with, separate switches, separate relays and not attached or controlled by the Headlights is the way to go.
One main power wire can be used but two fused leads to the relays are better.
Also run the grounds back to the battery along with the main power; one ground wire is OK but it has to cover the total amperage of all four lights; I like smaller wire and more of them so two ground wires are for me.
Gauge the power wires for at least 25% more amperage than what is called for; i.e. 10 amp go to 14-ga wire instead of 16 ga, etc.
I run a fused 10-ga for all of my lighting power feeds and grounds.

By running separate circuits for each pair of aux lights and for the headlights, you have backup lighting when and if necessary.

Yes four lights can be used even though I do not know what yours looks like.
You can always make side extensions to mount the outside lights on and drill new holes for the inner lights, just change the spacing.
