194 is the standard size peanut bulb.

i think the 168 is the little tiny bulbs like the instrument cluster takes for the indicator lights.

LED 194/168's are all different sizes... If you buy them too long they wont fit. That's why it'd be nice to know what LEDs are the biggest that fit.

When I did my first HVAC led mod, I used 2 blue 194 inverted LEDs that I figured out which lead needed to be where, then soldered them in. I "aimed" them to get the most out of them.......and they LOOKED GREAT! Even light.....looked awesome.

The pic you posted happens to be my buddy Trevor's truck...he's got 9 total 5mm LED's that are soldered in(so do I now).

Your stock bulbs in there are those same little bastards that are in your gauge cluster. I have no clue the size/# of them, but I know they are the same as my idiot lights on my cluster.....ALOT smaller than 194/168/906's.

Why not just take your truck apart like we do and find out what those bulbs are??

Because you guys have done it before...

I do plan on taking it apart soon. I think they are the '74' bulbs right?

Like these guys...

They sell '74' style LED on autolumination..

i think theres a little piece of green plastic behind the clear thing that spreads the light.

i know thats how mine was but it was blue.

^^It's a filter that's simply just sittin there in between the "faceplate" and the "light dispursement" plastic. the filter is painted green, or green/blue(on oldermodels.) I know for a fact, that my 01 stock are not 194's. And I know that my non-led'd 98 is also not 194's.

There's two of those tiny little bastards, just like the illumination bulbs in the 04+ cluster.
