Power Door Lock Switches

The driver's door lock switch on my 2005 Ranger Extended Cab will no longer unlock the doors. It will lock the doors & the passenger side will lock & unlock the doors.

I want to do some troubleshooting of the circuit, but I have a question. Will the switch come out of the armrest without removing the door panel from the door, or do I have to remove the door panel in order to access the switch connections? Also, are the driver's side & passenger's side door lock switches interchangeable?

Thanks for any info.

Your switch is probably bad, or wiring is boogered up.
You can take out the armrest without taking the door panel off, In fact I think in your truck you have to take it out first to get the panel off. just be very careful to not break any clips, but pull around the edges of it, using a small flathead screwdriver or a trim tool.
The drivers side and passengers side switch is interchangeable, if your truck was a bit older, i'd say go to the junkyard, but you could try ebay or even the dealer.

The armrest needs to be removed partially. It is quite simple, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the handle portion and use a Flathead to remove the power lock button. I don't know if they are interchangeable, I just went and looked and they seem to be the same... check it out.

I have the same issue in my '02 Ranger EXT Cab. If I bang on the switch it works (once in a while) It seems as though I just need to replace the switch. It's cheap but I just haven't gotten around to it.
