my truck didnt come from ford with fog lights but i have the 01 edge bumper with fogs. how can i wire then into my headlights. i have them on a separate switch right now and im wanting to re do a few things.

 

Do you want the Fog lamps to come on with your headlamps or only if your headlamps are on via the separate switch?

 

i have them on a separate switch now. but i want to get rid of the switch and wire them into the headlights. prefer the high beams actually.

 

Assuming you have your fogs on a relay simply connect the hot side of the relay coil (either 85 or 86) to the headlamp high beam wire and the other to ground. This way the relay will only come on with the high beams.

 

I don't suppose it'll make much of a difference in your decision, but:

the whole idea of fog lights is to have a lighting source that will penetrate (somewhat) the fog without illuminating the water vapor to the point where your field of vision is further impaired. you may have noticed that, if you turn your high beams on in thick fog, you can usually see nothing more than a wall of white fog. ...this is why, typically, factory fog lights are wired so that they turn -off- when the high beams are on.

so, wiring the fog lights so that they -only- illuminate when the high beams are on is, well... counter-productive, at best.

 

makes sense. actually i think ill just run them into my headlights. so i gotta find some kinda wire then right? thats gonna be fun
