93 Ford Ranger Heat issues

I have a 93 ranger with the 3.0 v6. The picture shows the temp gauge in the truck after an hours worth of driving one night in 40* weather. This is as hot as the gauge gets! I quickly thought it to be a no brainer and installed a new thermostat from the local auto store. (195*) was the only one they offered for my truck. Put it in and noticed no change what so ever. Still no heat. Took it to a shop and they could not find the problem with it running so cold. They also checked the heater core and said it was fine. Both hoses going into the heater core are really hot which is good but i still get no heat. I checked behind the glove box and everything is operating fine cables and all. This makes no sense to me and i am getting really frustrated.
heater core (good)
Thermostat (good)
hoses (hot good)
manual cables behind glove box (good)

Please if you have any thoughts or suggestions feel free to speak as you wish. i would be willing to try anything at this point. Simply because of this one issue that not only me but shops can't explain, im considering selling the truck! i need heat!
