no running lights...help!?

So went to put LEDS in the rear tails today and realized I have no running lights. When I press the brakes the lights come on, when I put my flashers on it seems fine, but when I put my lights on at night I have no running lamps. I thought it was the LEDS at first but turned them around and got no lights at all. Then I tried to put my stock lights back in and nothing as far as running lights either.
Any ideas of how to fix this problem?

I had LED's in my clear tails for about a week. I went back to regular red bulbs. I was having a fast flash though not a parking light problem.

Check your fuses, sounds like one is blown.

Checked them and replaced them...must be a short cause they keep blowing as soon as I think about turning my lights on.

Theres the idiot's guide to frying your truck's wiring if I ever saw one.

The LEDs are pure rice, take 'em out, re-check all your wiring. Its almost certainly mis-wired or grounding out somewhere.

Yea take the LED's out, they do require less watts. They'll either blow fuses or make your signals flash alot faster. Just put some regular red bulbs.

I couldn't disagree with you more...Led lights are so much brighter than filament bulbs, and they look cool too. If they were "ricey" expensive cars (Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Ranger Rover, etc) would not put them on. Seems like anything that is cheap is ricey to some people, but if you spend the money and get QUALITY products then the results will add value to the truck.

If you bought them from a autopart store(Autozone, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto Parts) then take them back. Those are made for Chevy's and plus you paid too much and they won't look good at all on your truck.

I replaced ALL of my lights with Led bulbs, off of Ebay from velocity_1, and they look so much better and my lights are brighter as well. Led bulbs, like my Hid bulbs, require less voltage too so if your gonna put them in, you WILL need to get a regulator (4) for every bulb that is used as a turn signal. So reverse and parking lights won't need them. LED bulbs work off of a lower voltage than is supplied by the truck that's why it is important to to get the regulator, only attach to the signal lights not brake lights, to regulate the voltage going to them or else they will either not blink or they will blink fast. When i put all of mine in they didn't blink at all, but the brake lights, parking lights, and hazards worked until i put regulators on.

I spent around $100, all from velocity_1, to replace the bulbs and to add regulators to all the signals. I think the regulators are around $4 each and they're easy to install. I didn't have to replace any fuses or make the current ones a higher voltage either.
If your gonna spend your money to put something on your vehicle, then do it right that way it doesn't look "ricey."

BTW: Who came up with the term "ricey?" I've never heard that until i moved to Fl. It's the most overused term to refer to someone who puts crap on their car (usually import cars) when they should've saved their money to buy QUALITY...I think it was a hater that got his bum handed to him when a little Civic or Accord ate his macho V8 for lunch while he was trying to be a show-off with his friends (usually girlfriend) in the car.

Check out my homepage for my truck and it tells you which LED bulbs to get etc...

The taillights and marker lights on our trucks are designed to work with incandescent bulbs, which emit light in all directions. LEDs emit light in a much smaller pattern, rendering the reflector part of our lights virtually useless. "Expensive cars" like Lexus and Acura design the LEDs into the housings with special lenses to control this problem.

And I don't know who told you any different, but no mods, no matter how expensive, add any resale value to a vehicle, unless you're lucky enough to find a buyer who wants exactly the mods you have. 99 out of 100 times, though, you're going to trade your vehicle into a dealership who won't give squat about your "quality" mods, and will give you not a penny over book value.

I totally disagree...I've done this mod...successfully. I paid out the tail to ensure that I was getting the same brightness from the Leds as i was from the stock lighting. Led's ARE brighter than incandescent bulbs no contest on that one.

More expesive cars don't have anything that helps the Led's look brighter, they just have them placed at the right angle to achieve maximum brightness. If i ripped off a tail light with Led's stock you'd see that they use the same reflective materials as any other car.

My mom has an Infinity G35 6M coupe, and my lights, both Leds and Hids, are just as bright as hers now. Another huge difference with her car is that her tailights are clear. Clear anything will allow more light making anything brigher because light is lost behind colored plastic. Thats why headlights are clear not colored and most luxury cars with leds have clear tails. Mind you, her car was $50K, my truck was $17K. The only thing my mom's car has is auto-leveling for her Hid lights so they don't blind people, my truck doesn't have it and i'm not paying crazy dollars to get it either.

My Led's that i bought are called refractor bulbs which utilize the whole lense. Can't buy them locally because they hand make them. The corner lenses (hid white) has 5 total: 1 big one for the direct view and 4 little ones that fan out on the rims to fill in my lense. The front signals (hid white) and rear brake/turn signals (red) are 25 refractor: 10 in the middle for direct view 10 angled in the middle and 5 on the side to fill in the lense and for side view. The reverse lights (hid white) are 21 direct view only becuse that part is white and you can see just fine.

If you saw them you'd think different. Go to my site and look. I have the Led's that match my Hid kit i bought and my whole front end of my truck matches and looks brighter than any stock vehicle with incandescent bulbs.

It's true that re-sale value is in the eye of the buyer, but if you put parts on your vehicles that add flair or make it look different from other vehicles, you WILL get a better return and you WILL sell it quicker. If my Ranger was lifted and had the same bullet rims and Mudd Grapplers like the Ranger next to me had, I couldn't sell it fast nor could I sell it for more because he could unload his for less. Pure economics man...my major. If i traded it i would put the stock parts back on and trade it...Down here, dealerships will actually give you more if your vehicle is moded nicely (no 15" lifts and big mud tires), but they have to take all that stuff off and put factory stuff back on because they can't sell it that way. I used to work at Acura and they did that all the time. If your vehicle is modded and they have to take it off they will deduct the cost of removing all that crap and deduct anything else they have to pay. That's why it pays to have your car clean, new tires on it, etc becasue you get more and the dealer has to do less.

**That's a hint for you future traders**

I bet if both of us put our vehicles for sale, I'd sell my faster and for more because of all the mods i've done no one has, and the fact that i spent the money to get Quality parts.

I will back the same Led bulbs I bought anyday and if you swapped your's you'd see. Anyone coming to the meet in Richmond Hill will see them for themselves.

If these lights are made for Chevy from Discount, then why is it ok for them to tell me that they will work on my Ranger when they are actually NOT made for my truck and too low of a wattage? That sucks. Does anyone know where I can get at least red bulbs or red covers til I have time to order new LED's? NO DISCOUNT does not sell them. That is what I went for in the first place and they talked me into the LEDs! :(

Haha...you can just get white 3157 bulbs to replace them for now...but those are made for chevy's not our trucks. All led's have a lower wattage it's just that the smarties at Chevy adapted their system to accomodate lower wattage bulbs.

get the ones i got off of ebay and you'll be happy and content..TRUST ME i wouldn't back it if it was crap

well I have all clear tail lights so its illegal for me to drive around with white tail lights. I have to have some kind of red bulb in there.

so lets say I get the LEDs from ebay and I get the regulators is it going to be a pain to hook up cause my reverse lights are by themselves but the brake light and running light and turn signals are all the same bulb (I only have 2 bulbs is what I am trying to say).

the problem is the 2 filament bulb used for the signal/brake lights (or parking/brake)
I have leds in some single lamp locations (parking lights, cargo lights) and they work fine, even better than incandescent

come on lady, break out some of the red nail polish from the back drawer of your beauty chest and paint up some clear blubs for now....

You can buy red bulb covers at some auto parts stores. Might get you by till you can get the LEDs working.

I'd hit some clear bulbs with some transparent red paint as an interim solution, as Niel suggested. In my experience, the rubbery bulb covers burn themselves onto the bulbs and turn brown. I tried a blue bulb cover in my domelight for a while, it was horrible. Then again the blue-tinted incandescent bulb quickly turned green then yellow then white.

The only mod I've done to my truck that I think adds ANY resale value is my bed cover. I don't think ANY of your mods add any actual value. You don't seem to grasp that the vast majority of ranger owners aren't enthusiasts, they use thier rangers as work trucks, so my hard cover would be alot more valuable to most buyers than some goofy LEDs.

Exactly. Mods only make the owner happy. Your mods obviously do that for you, which is great and part of what this community is all about. And yes you may be able to sell yours faster because your truck has some more attractive features but you won't get any more for it. When you start tacking on money for your mods ppl realize they don't need them and can get a truck cheeper elsewhere without the mods.
