I had mine replaced at 10000, it is always on. The dealer just replaced the switch.
of course they broke my car alarm and it took them 300$ to get it fixed but thats another story.

You might ask the dealer to make a "warranty adjustment," or whatever it's called. If asked kindly, they might knock some off of the price, or do it under warranty.

I successfully argued for warranty coverage after my warranty had run out (my heater box crapped out in the summer, but I didn't know about it until it got cold outside and I had to start using the heat). It worked out that they charged me for the heater box ($140) and the dealer absorbed the cost of the labor ($500 to remove the dash).

So in your case, the price of the bulb is quite inconsequential. It's the cost to disassemble the dashboard to get at the bulb that will be a significant amount. You might be able to work something out with your dealer. Tell them that the bulb has never worked, and as a result, you didn't even know that the switch was supposed to illuminate, and you just found out about it 2 weeks after your warranty ran out. I think that they would be flexible.

Interestingly my grandmother who owns an explorer asked if they could replace the bulbs in her dash since some of her gauges are dim, they wanted $250.00 no joke. Dealerships are EVIL!

I bought two of them at the dealer (6 bux each) before doing the led mod.

Mine lasted about 6 months or so. I just didn't care. I still don't honestly. I don't know why but I never do good at subtle changes.
