You could run separate aftermarket backup lights and use the Clear Section of the tail-lights for turn signals.
No holes to drill and the aftermarket backup lights will be brighter.
You will need to cut off the OEM Plug on the backup wire.
If you do this and decide to run 55 watt backup lights you will need to add a relay and a new power wire.

I modded a 3rd hole in my 01 tails to work with my 96's 3 bulb wiring... I'd guess the 06 tails could be modded in a similar fashion too.
Changing the wiring from 3 to 2 bulb is possible, but too much work for me to get into so I just made a template of the bulb socket opening on the housing & made a new hole that was far enough away from the original bulb that they had plenty of clearance.
I ran regular bulbs for a while, but soon upgraded to led's.
