Power Lock System Disaster..Please Help
So let me warn everyone off the bat..Im no electrician. With that said let me explain my situation. So about a year ago or so I bought a used power lock/keyless entry system from a member off of here. he said everything was included, including instructions but unfortunately the only instructions that came were ones that told you how to use the remotes when your done with everything.
So here is my question, what I basically have is 2 actuators, 2 mounting plates, and two rods that I dont know what they do. And I also have the main wire harness with a few plugs in it with 5 wires coming out of each, then two more smaller plugs on the side with two wires coming out of each. Am I screwed or can I make this work? Id really like to have keyless entry and power locks but I dont even wanna mess with this if I cant do it. It just sucks because it did cost me 50 bucks...oh well I guess I was young and stupid lol
All help is greatly appreciated!!!

No I dont have the A1 electric kit...I sure wish I did!! What I got from the guy is a Micro Delux Keyless Entry System. Its #DLR4 I think what I have is a universal power lock kit with an add on Keyless entry, there are no switches though so maybe i could be wrong Im not sure. It is a really sketchy kit...I def. wish I would have never gotten it from the guy. I should have put the money towards an A1 kit.
Either way..lets see if we can find somethin on it...thanks!

I wouldn't think they would be much different, but there could be some differences. Don't let the amount of wires coming from the module freak you out. You only need a few of those to make the system operate. The majority of those wires are for optional features. If you just want the power locks to work via the remote, there's not many wires that need hooked up. The pigtails coming from the lock actuators are color coded w/ the wires from the harness, right? That makes that part pretty simple. If you can match wire color you can get that right. Other than those, you'll just need constant power & ground. If you want to hook them up to lock/unlock when you turn the key on/off, you'll need switched power as well. I chose not to do that. Unneccesary for me. You'll probably want to tap into the parking light switch to get your flash confirm on lock/unlock. That's not too difficult. You just need to use a test light to confirm which wire is hot when you turn the parking lights on and tap it. I think it's the 3rd wire down on the outside (toward the door/fuse box) of the switch. There is a wire chart pinned to the top of the audio/vdeo section that was correct for my truck. Mounting/timing the actuators and running the wires through the door boots to the actuators is the most time consuming task of it all. I'll look for the instructions in a little bit and email them to you.

Man you said exactly whats freakin me out! All those wires are really whats freakin me out..it just didnt make sense to me because there are only two wires coming off the actuator..i was guessing ground and power..let me sort out the wires and ill put a picture up here of what I have..there are also two small plugs on the side that I dont know whats their function..hold on one sec ill put one up
Thanks for the help!

And I also forgot to say Im not worried about the locks going with the ignition either..that seems pointless but I would like to wire them into the parkin lights
Here are the pictures:
And then these are the three little plugs that I dont know what they are for. I hope they arent important though because When I got this in the mail there were like three wires broken off of it.

I forgot to look for the A1 instructions awhile ago, so I didn't get them scanned. I'll hunt them up this weekend and get them for you, but looking at your system, I don't think they will do you much good. If I were you, i'd almost set that system up on a bench w/ a battery to decipher it, get it figured out and working, rather than trying to figure it out in the truck. It would save you a lot of grief. Are any of the wires coming out of the module marked where they attach? Like writing imprinted on the plastic above or below each wire? The red wire w/the fuse is constant power obviously, and black is most likely ground, but other than that, I dunno.
Sorry I didn't get them to you. I had my truck serviced, and they told me I needed brakes and rotors to the tune of $350. I told them no thanks, bought the parts myself, installed them, and saved $200, but it ate up my evening. If nothing anyone else has posted helps you, let me know and I WILL get you the instructions I have.

Ya I guess you guys are right..thats really what I was thinkin realistically...I just wish I would have never bought the thing..the guy sure made it sound good though. I guess thats why he isnt on here anymore lol Oh well life goes on.
I really appreciate all you guys help..sorry it took me so long to get back on..been a busy day
But Im sure when I do get the A1 Electric kit I will need help with that too lol I sure wish you guys lived close to VA...

most electronics use a few basic colors as a standard. The red wire with fuse is your constant power, black is ground of course. Yellow is typically switched power. The led that plugs into the other side must be to tell you when your system was activated. The thin black wire nearest the led wire is probably the antenna if it has a remote. The other wires are going to power your functions. By the way some ends are taped I would guess those would be for more advanced features such as power windows...
Your actuators for the power locks should have wire colors that cordinate with the wires coming out of the yellow box.
Like another said, get yourself a battery and hook it up out of the truck. As long as the power wires are hooked up correctly, mixing up the other wires to the acctuators shouldn't cause any damage.
