My window has been messed up for about a year now and I've decided it's time to get it fixed.
I went to the local repair shop and they wanted $168 to fix it.. (parts, labor, overcharge, etc..)
I looked and don't think I could do it myself and Ford would charge out the a-hole I'm sure
What do you guys think?

 

Go the junkyard and take what you need apart, you'll become a pro at putting the new one in at the same time.

 

It is really easy. I just got done installing factory power windows in my truck.

First unscrew the two screws in your black door handle trim (the part with the switches). The screws are behind the handle. Then be careful and remove the electrical connectors to the switches and place the trim to the side. Then unscrew the screw that is on the door panel behind where the door handle trim used to be. Then unscrew the screw on the bottom of the door panel farthest away from the hinges on the door latch side. Then you can lift up on the door panel to remove.

Then remove the white water shielding plastic. Its just glued on.

Ok now make sure your window is about 1/2 way down and take some duct tape and secure it in place. Like tape one side, bring the tape over the door and end it on the other side of the window to hold it up.

Get yourself a metal punch around 1/4". Punch out the steel centers of the four rivets holding your regulator in place. Then take a 1/4" drill bit and drill out the rest. The actuator should be free. Oh yeah btw disconnect the electrical connector to the motor. At the very bottom center of the door.

You should be able to wiggle the actuator toward the door hinges to slide out the arm from the window guide. (you should be able to tell what I'm talking about when you do this). Now you should be able to wiggle the whole assembly out. Take the new one and wiggle it back into place. First slide the plastic rectangle into the window guide at the bottom of the window and try to allign the holes up. You may have to lift up on the window to do this. I found out it was easier to use a 1/4" punch and use that to line up a hole and then bolt another hole. I actually riveted mine back with some 1/4 rivets with a heavy duty rivet gun (looks kinda like a bolt cutter). But most ppl on here use nuts and bolts.

You should be able to just reverse the steps and you should be done.
