BRAKES!
Need brakes. I know there's tons of threads on this but I figured I'd make my own.
I'm planning to get my Duralast rotors resurfaced and get new pads. Which pads would you buy?
EBC-Great stopping power from what I've read but they wear fast and are dusty. Not that I'm worried about brake dust but I want something that's gonna last.
Hawk-Some folks seem to be impressed and others not so much. They all seem to all say low dust and they last.
Duralast/Store brand-All I know is mine went to **** fast!

Premium semi-metallic brake pads with a good vented (not drilled or slotted, vented down the center) is all u will need.
i used to religiously run Bendix Titiametallic pads and Bendix OE spec rotors, now i use Wagner Thermoquiets (advance auto quit selling bendix pads unless special order and that takes forever). i will NEVER use duralast rotors...off-shore junk...same for house brand rotors from any McPartsStore.

x2, my stock pads were downright scary at times, brake fade was aweful not to mention brake dust was crazy. i went with hawke pads last year and they are 200% better than stock, no fade at all as a matter of fact they bite harder the longer the brakes are applied and brake dust is minimal. stock pads blow, hawke pads rock!

I've never known a dealer that knew what was best for MY truck. They told me electric shift 4x4 was just as good as manual and there's no reason to swap

theres nothing wrong with buying motorcraft parts, they are normally the best product for your truck, but not always and brake pads are one of those things.

Hmmmm, just do a cobra brakes lol.
No but really i've heard hawk has lots of brake dust and not very impressive.
Look at Posi Centric Quiet brake pads...they are a pretty good pad for a good price. Not a lot of dust but has great grab and stopping power.
Oh, and get good name brand high quality rotors. Many rotors are made from cheap metals which warp and fade quickly. Don't' get those...definitely get a name brand!

Motorcraft isnt actually Ford parts...Ford dealers sell two different brands...Ford which is what would be factory and motorcraft which is thier "aftermarket" parts division built to Ford spec and quality. often times motorcraft is cheaper, its all we use on the buses at work...Motorcraft brake parts...plus they come with the hardware to boot.

I always buy the duralasts because A. they're Cheap, B. They work good for their cost and C. Make sure you get the ones with lifetime warranty because they wear down fast. But Autozone will exchange them under warranty as long as you don't wear them down to the metal. Which means if you take them in every time they get down to 1/8th of thickness left just take them in and you will never have to buy pads again.
