95 Ranger - New 01 Dash Tach not acting right
Just installed an '01 Sport Trac Dash in my '95 Ford Ranger 2.3l 5spd. It has a tach while my original dash did not.
Everything works correctly, properly, and accurately except for the Tach. It acts sluggishly and does not go above 2500 rpm.
Anybody know what would cause this? Where does it get its signal from? What could I troubleshoot or replace to possibly fix this?

Okay found out some more info between another similar thread and a mechanic. Apparently the 4cyc rangers don't have a ground in the instrument cluster for the tach as it is not needed. But the larger engines have a ground for their tach because for some reason it is needed.
The problem with the weak signal is that the cluster is from a larger engine and requires a ground. I guess now I need to find out which wires I need to switch or solder into to make the proper ground. Anyone have any clue?
