1993 Ranger Power Window Problems

Help! I'm going bananas here trying to figure this window problem out...

On my 93 Ranger, 3.0L, 2WD, Super Cab, my power windows are on the fritz. They roll down fine, but struggle when rolling up. I have replaced both window motors, but still the same issue. Today, I took the regulators out, cleaned and lubed them, and cleaned and greased the slide that the regulator runs up and down on. I have tried to adjust the tracks on each side of the window, but nothing seems to help.

I noticed that neither regulator has any type of "helper" spring to assist the motor when rolling the window up. I do not see any debris inside the door that would lead me to believe there ever was any such spring.

Does anyone have any idea what I can try next, other than maybe going to manual windows, lol...

Thanks!

They are in good condition. No obvious wear. And they mesh smoothly with the regulator.

I may just take these motors back and get the slightly more expensive ones. These may have been cheaper for a reason...

OK, I purchased the more expensive window motors and my windows work again. Note to self: some things I just do not need to be cheap on; 1) mattresses, 2) toilet paper, 3) power window motors...

what motors did you purchase?

My motors have been going out for some time... or I think that is what it is. And today I can not roll them down or up.

Could be another problem but I have checked all the fuses

To be honest, I do not know. Both motors came in a plain white box. The first one looked like a reconditioned, and the second one looked new.

I guess the best thing to try would be to buy a new, non-reconditioned motor to see if that corrects the problem.

Also, take the motor out of the door and manual moved the window up and down with your hands to see if you feel any extreme resistance, especially when pulling up. Mine did have some resistance, not too bad, but I was able to reduce it by adjusting the tracks on each side and by totally cleaning and lubing the regulator and center track. That, of course, required removal of the regulator, which is riveted in. You can drill the rivets out easily and then use, I think, 1/4" by 28 by 1/2" bolt/nut to mount it back.

Hope this helps.

94 ranger power window problems

ok...so im in need of help. my 94 power windows went out. so i replaced both regulators with brand new ones. both work going down but up is another story. the windows both rock foward on the up path. the driver pulls through it but the passenger cant make it. so with the assist of pulling them up with my hand they work. ive tried to bend the tracks tighter so the windows cant rock foward, no luck. i tried putting a assist spring bungee type do-hicky but its a band-aid fix. they worked flawlessly for 15+ years and then both went out within a month of each other. im goin to try and lube the track they ride in but with little hope. has anyone fixed this problem that seems to happen in 93-94 power window models? ps i found this place from searching for a fix to this problem and i must say, "badass". this site is really cool and ive gotten some neat ideas from others.

cheers with beers!
