Pass. Airbag removal

I already have an 8" flip down screen and I want someplace to mount my ps2. I already tried a fiberglass console to house it, but that didn't work because I kept hitting the open button with my elbow. Does anyone know how to remove that airbag so that I can fiberglass something to hold it there? I think it would look pretty clean there.

Nevermind. I used search and found that there are two 10 mm screws that I access from the glovebox. Thanks for anyone who WOULD have posted.

The PS airbag assembly is retained by 2 small bolts above the glove box and has one 2-wire connector. You will have a permanent airbag light/trouble code if you unplug it. Not sure but I think that will defeat the driver's airbag as well.

Your welcome! lol

Yes it is legal, BUT.. If you do not report it to your insurance company and have an accident they have every right to deny your claims and drop you... but if you do report it they may also drop your coverage or raise your rates.. so it really is a crapshoot..

My 97 never had a passenger airbag so I know that panels are out there to cover the space after you remove it. The connector that would go to the airbag seems to have a terminator on it that prevents an error being flagged so that also might be helpful for you. Just be careful about what you put in place of the airbag...no airbag can often be safer than filling that space with annoying things for a passenger to hit during an accident

if you splice in a 2 ohm resistor into the airbag wiring it will thing the airbag is still there.

So two 10mm bolts accessible through the glove box area is all I need to remove to pull the passenger's air-bag aside? I need to install the PATS module behind it.
