Well, hello!

Hey guys!

Just bought myself a 2011 Ranger FX4 a few weeks ago, and I tell ya, this truck stuff is addicting! Already planning lots and lots of upgrades and accessories, and looking forward to learning more about the trucks here!

(This is my first truck, and after the last winter here in Alberta, and a few attempts camping in some rough crown land, never again will I buy own a car as my daily driver!)

Nice truck, welcome to RF. What plans do you have for it?

Thanks. New stereo (Full kenwood system with new 6x8s, deck, and 2 compact powered subs under the seats) and some small stuff like bush bar/aux lights, tonneau, bedrail and reverse lights and a backrack, as well as a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust. I've got about $6,000 banked for addons and such right now, so it'll all get dumped into the truck over the new couple of months. Later in the year or maybe early next year I'd like to do a body lift, probably 4", and one day supercharge it (along with the other necessary upgrades). Lots of work to keep me busy and my wallet empty lol

Don't waste your money on a cold air intake. Pointless on our trucks. Just do the airbox mod (removing air silencer, search on here for it, it's free) and a K&N drop in filter into the stock air box. Same effect and a lot less money that you can spend elsewhere.

Keep a thread going with your build with lots of pics of your mods and add-ons. People love pictures here :)

Thanks for the tip on the air box. I was second guessing the new intake since the stock 4.0L intake is basically the same design as the K&N intake. I'll do the air silencer mod tomorrow!

Dirty Ranger: I actually wasn't even planning on getting a Ranger at first, let alone an FX4. I went in to get an '09 F150 XTR, but my credit is fairly neutral so I couldn't get financing. However, they got on the horn with Ford and their First Time Buyer program, and offered me up the FX4 Ranger. I had been researching Rangers as a backup plan but didn't know there WAS an FX4, since ford.ca's build & price doesn't list it as an option package or anything, just the XLT. It's been growing on me VERY quickly!
