Offroad lights installed (56K ok)

I always thought I might need an alignment soon after I put on my body lift but I never thought much of it...until this weekend. My uncle that helped me put it on said that I should get my speedo fixed and my chip burned ASAP because with the bigger tires and the speedo thrown off he said it could cause all sorts of problems with my gas mileage, ABS, and other things. He said he could fix that at work for me I would just have to bring it up there and he would do it no charge. Then he said that I should look into an alignment too because the lift and tires probably threw it off some. I have been noticing my truck running very rough the past couple of days and my front left tire is wearing much faster than the others and none of them are wearing at the same rate. So now I got to go get an alignment which will be 50-100 bucks and then not too far down the road I will have to replace these tires because ive already worn about 50% of them in just 5'000-10'000 miles. :x

04EDGE is also right, but rangers are notorious for getting out of alignment on their own. you may want to look into a lifetime align like mine. best $120 ive spent

yahh i paid $50 for my allignment at my lift shop, they didn't tell me that they could also have done the lifetime for $120 :( is so i would have got that. eventually i will get the lifetime. how often do you think it should be checked? that is under normal driving conditions

I think with the amount of off-roading and abuse my truck's suspension sees, an alignment would be good for about a week. I've never aligned my truck, but rotate my tires regularly and they are wearing pretty evenly.

Well, the only alignment I had done was over at Steeda when they lowered the truck. They did a "Sport Tuned Alignment" which could be some fancy name, but probably not. It has been 13 months since it had been lowered and no problems at all.

The only way larger tires hurt gas mileage is by having a larger rotational mass. Your odometer will be affected by a percentage, and your brakes will have to work harder (or you'll have to slow down sooner) due to the increased weight. But I guess if my tires wore that poorly, I would have had my alignment checked, too.
