Sweet idea for trim

so i was bout to order new bumpers and fender flares when i thought i could just paint them... THEN the really sweet idea came, i want more of a flat black look so spray on bed liner came to mind. wouldnt that be sweet?!?! i will probally use that one the fender flares, rear and front bumper, and the plastic arms attatched to the grille. anyone done this?? i think id be sweet with the texture on it. plus it will hold up against scratched and stuff with a heavy duty look. any suggestions?

My bumpers are really rusty, I'm thinking of taking some Herculiner and covering the rear bumper, and maybe the back of the front. I want something thats a little thicker than spray can stuff. I figure a few coats of that will hold up much better than a thin coat of spray can stuff.

Done already by a few members...

I sanded down quite a bit to the point i made everything smooth. Sprayed on 2 coats Duplicolor adhesion promoter, then on went the bedliner in a can. It takes a while to get the hang of how it reacts and how it sprays, but once you get it...everything will look great! I ran just my upper bumper bedlined for a year and half with virtually no fading, andi painted ontop of a chrome bumper w/ NO PREP. On the plastics, prep it.

Beforeyou go out and spray bedliner on your flares, see if anyone wants to trade their textured XLT flares for your smooth paintable EDGE flares....might be able to get some money out of them. I'd hate to see a set of perfectly good edge flares get wasted.

Here's my truck using Duplicolor's Bedliner in a can....

it wont look good especialy if you get GREY it will look like a 96' caravan with grey plastic bumpers...my friend used some kind of grey anti gravel spray on his lower sidewalls and bumpers and it looked like the grey plastic on a honda element...

grey bumpers are just a cost effective way of doing a 2 tone color schemes with 1 colour of paint. hahaha.

btw,the bedliner on the bumpers and flares looks sweet,on the right application, such as the truck pictured.
