throttle body spacer

Now, i havn't bought one yet, and i know its a highly contreversial item, i've heard it works for some but not the others, has anybody actually bought or know sombody that bought one and installed it, and if it actually does anything, and if it does for what engine? Also, has anbody tried a super chip?

i had one on a 99 yukon, 5.7L. i guess it whistled a little when i would crack the throddle, other than that, it did nothing. chipping a gas engine, IMO does nothing. at least i have never been able to get anyone to stand behind their so called dyno numbers. maybe with doing engine work, like heads, intake, injectors, exhaust, you would see some real numbers. just dont think seat of the pants feel is enough for me.

Throttle body spacers only creates a actual performance difference on carburetor motors.

If you would like the noise you get from them thats cool but dont expect any performance out of them

as for super chips im not sure but i know alot of guys on here who run the xcal and diablo sport tuners and they do work and with custom tunes on the xcals they work awesome, more than just seat of your pants feel and they have the dyno numbers to prove it

I have one, which somehow fitted along with the K$N CAI. When I had it with out the CAI, I barely noticed anything, better throttle response. But if you combine it with a CAI it works really good +sounds sweet

Would a TBS help just the sluggish throttle response at all?

No , it won't help a fuel injected engine.
Throttle body spacers were used under carbs due to the heat soak from the manifold overheating the fuel bowls , sometimes to the point the gas would almost boil . Made it very difficult to tune a carb with the engine hot. Tended to make the engine run too lean.
The spacer helped insulate the carb.

^havent heard that one. always went with spacers increased the plenum volume on the intake allowing for better atomiztion after the carb

That was a secondary effect which led to raised intakes in the late sixties-early seventies . The increased runner length helped the fuel to disperse better.

no i didn't buy any yet, i'm just asking for peoples experinces with them to see if its worth getting or not, i'm looking into the accel because they are cheeper than motor craft and no one else like msd seems to sell coil packs for my ranger, and i'm limited with funds, and i actually need to replace them soon

If I wasted my money I wouldn't be advocating it and saying what I said.
Thanks for being a jackass though

From everything I have read over the years, I have never heard of a benefit from a throttle body spacer. I do have a K&N CAI..and a BBK throttle body and both of those made a noticeable difference.

894banger I see you asking about the coil pack..there is a review on this site done by someone a couple years ago. Read about it. It has benefit if the plugs are gapped wider than stock. Not sure if that applies to the 4 cyl. as well though.

Some stuff to look into...
Cold air intake (Which I see you have)
Programmer..(NOT a Jet chip)
Headers (not sure whats available for the 4 cyl.)
Electric fan
Underdrive pulleys

Thats about it for bolt ons unless I'm forgetting something.
