Will new 'all in one" Ford key/fobs fit in '09 Ranger ignition?

Without getting into a discussion of whether or not the PATS chip is compatible, I'm curious if one of the new "all in one" Ford keys, that have the fob as part of the key, will fit into the ignition of a new Ranger. The Ranger's ignition cylinder is guarded by that oval shaped trim piece. It may be too narrow to allow the fatter "all in one" key to get in far enough.

Now...on to the PATS. I don't like the big plastic handled key + fob. My wife's '02 Honda CR-V's keys were like this too. I noticed that the '02 Accord's key was an "all in one", so I had our dealer cut one for our CR-V. They looked at me like a deer in the headlights since there was no way of self programming the key like on a new Ford. Instead, I replaced the Accord key's chip with one from the CR-V's 3rd valet key. Once I programed the fob buttons, it worked like a charm.

I have a 3rd key for my '09 Ranger, so I was thinking about doing the same with a Ford "all in one" key. If the new key's PATS chip is compatible, programming should be a snap. If it's not, I'll try swapping chips. My only concern is the size of the new keys fob. Is it too thick to fit into that oval guard? I suppose I'll have to visit my dealer to check.

You need to trim the ears on the side of the switch but yes it will work.
