since my truck is 5spd i shift at 4.5-5k just cause it is fun so i do reach the high rpm and i use synthetic.

only old people use crap oil. i have a pic on my camera that i will upload later the pic is of a parrifin wax based oil that they used back in the 40s found it in my gradpas garage since he has lived in the same house since '43.

IF 5000 was dangerously high for a V6 Ford Ranger on regular oil which Ford recommends then they would not allow the truck to rev that high.

wait till you enjoy geting the oil filter off the 3.0 its a blast after a couple oil changes you get the hang of it its still a ***** to do.

watch when u drop the oil filter down that it doesnt hit the eletrical thing I know on my 98 ive done it and ive seen sparks lol.

also I would just stick what ford puts in your truck the Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend

And you know that with the new fords they suggest you change your oil every 5k in the manual.

yeah I'm heading to Advance Auto parts, gonna pick up Motorcraft oil & Filter, AND maybe a K&N high-flow drop in :)

and about the high RPMs yall go higher then me I stay at 2,500 and around 3K at 60mph... gas mileage is only 19 right now... I guess its gotta get "warn in" as they say

hmmmmm.........I put 5 qts. of oil in my 2.5l last time I changed the oil. I don't have an owners manual, but I looked it up on the internet I think......from the link on this site.......it was an online owners manual.

well guys turns out Advance Auto doesn't carry any Ford Motorcraft oil, or filters, so I bought a K&N drop in, came with decals, and an odd gasket thing for the airbox, ran me $60.00, I already have the recharge kit from my old truck so I'm good to go, I'll take some photos in a lil bit, waiting for the "golden hour"

I'll be doing the oil change tomorrow I supose

I just changed the oil on my 06 3.0 for the first time 3 days ago. I put in about 5 quarts to get it to the max on the stick. Bought motorcraft oil and filter to stay under warranty. Price at Murrays wasnt that bad, prolly 20 for the whole set of oil and wrench and filter.
