Number 14 2wd-4wd edge conversion

Well I have been driving number 14 since last spring as a 2wd edge but winters coming so I figured I might as well do the swap. I have a bad 4wd trans out of 17 so I need to do the output shaft swap on a low mile 2wd trans I have sitting around. I figured I would take a few pics along the way..

Here's the 2 transmissions...

Releasing the bands The intermediate band didn't even have the locknut tight

The first problem I noticed was the input shaft was stuck in the front drum(overdrive) Then when I pulled the drum out the race for the thrust bearing fell out in 2 pieces

This is the center support with the input speed sensor. There is a large snapring and a small torx bolt hidden under the valvebody holding it in.

The rear planetary has a large snap ring holding it

Then you get to this snap ring that holds in the output shaft

Here's the parts from the bad trans.

Basically the same deal with the good trans

I didn't know your gray one was only 2wd. I say superlift it when you do the 4wd swap! Can't wait to see the pics of the swap.

when I got it, it was wrecked and the frame was bent.

This is where the edge frame, trans and seats came from. The cluster read 9000 miles(04)..

It runs! I just took it for a test ride. Shifts a little slow but its a little low on fluid. I hope that fixes it...if not I'll swap the valve body with the one out of it. I still have to do the spindles and cv shafts and wiring but thwe hard part is done...lol Here's a pic but I'm not much of a photographer....lol

I always thought the wires were plug and play. Learn something new everyday.
