1985 Ranger 4.6 V8, convertible. Minnesota

I am selling my one-of-a-kind Ranger. It is a 1985 Ranger, but it is powered by a 4.6 V8 from a Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It also has the auto trans from the Crown Vic. The rear end is freshly rebuilt with a posi-trac setup and 3.73 gears. It also has Mustang rear disc brakes. The brakes front and rear are all new. The truck was lowered when I got it. It is done with DJM drop-beams, and a rear axle flip kit. The front springs, rear shocks, and ball joints are all new. The steering setup is power, and from a Nissan pickup. The radiator is brand new, as is a lot of engine components. The air intake is custom, and so is the exhaust. The exhaust is 1-1/2 primary custom headers with 3" pipes and FlowMaster 40's. It has American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels with tires that have 2,000 miles on them. Everything on the truck is basically 2,000 miles old.

The body work was all redone. The front clip is off a 91 Ranger. The Hood, Fenders, Grill, Lights, Core Support, and such are all new. Just wanted that look. The doors and fenders are shaved, and the box has a nice roll pan on it. I bought the truck having the top chopped off. It was done with a canvas top, but was damaged beyond use. So I had it all welded up, and repainted. There is absolutely NO rust on this truck.

The truck is all custom, and still needs more work still. I fit the speedo in from the Crown Vic, but ultimately wanted to put in the 91 dash as well, so that I would have gauges. It also should really have a power steering rack & pinion system installed. The steering system works, but not like it could. It will also need to have the leaf springs moved to the inside of the frame in order to fit the fat tires I have on the truck. That or get narrower ones. It runs and drives great as it. But I wouldn't call it a finished project yet.

The interior is very nice for an 85. The dash pad is perfect, the carpet is newer, and the rest is very nice for 25 years old. Some parts could use new dye. I was planning on using 91 door panels at the same time I switched the dash out.

I have over $10,000 invested in the truck, and don't need to sell it. I'm just looking to work on another project. I would be willing to do the work needed on the steering, rear end, and dash for a decent price. There is a lot more to this truck. But best thing is to come see it. I can store it for you over the winter if needed...

Looking for $6,000.

Ahh man... your selling it Dave? I remember seeing that thing at your shop that night I stopped by. Damn... that's been awhile already... looks like you've done a bit more work on it since then.

Can I ask what the new project is? Since the whole PINKS thing is obviously never going to get done. Haha...

Yeah, I'm selling it...

I haven't really picked a project for sure yet. I have a 1968 Torino I need to finish, but I've been thinking about a 98+ 4x4 Extended cab with a 4.6...
