2002 Ranger Light Mods Over the Years
Had the truck for a couple years now, just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of what I've done. I know that when I'm trying to mod mine, I'm really thankful for those who have taken the time to share what they have done, how they did it, and how it turned out.
2002 Ranger XLT 2WD 2.3 Duratec 4.10 Gears
First mod was to get it off the ground! Because I don't have much power, I just wanted to ride along with the stock 4WD guys. I actually sit a little higher, but it's real close and that is what I was after. I did spindle lift in the front, and factory lift blocks in the rear. I replaced the stock rear end (7.5 4.10's) with a 8.8 4.10 Limited Slip axle out of a FX4. I replaced all the clutch discs and pressure plates within the carrier, and threw her underneath!
Than I found me some Alcoas..
Then I shifted gears to the inside
- Explorer Buckets (without holes) both power, manual lumbar (dyed to match)
- PIE adapter for IPOD (charges/plays same time)
- Explorer Console (painted) Modded for ipod
- FX4 Manual shifter and boot
- SILVER gauge cluster, not white :)
- Explorer bezel, painted with 2 cig lighters and 2 fog lamps buttons (for later)
- Auto Page 525 LCD 2 way remote alarm
- Explorer OHC
Than I did the gauge pillar thing, with Vacuum and Oil Pressure
I ended up having some guy (seats were not even for sale) offer me 350 for the seats, so I said.. OK.. and just put in the originals (did the 60/40 mod). I drove around with the pillar gauges for a while, realized they weren't really my scene, so I ditched them and went scangauge. I fiber-glassed a mount where the ash try / air bag light would normally be.
The alcoas clearcoat started to peel and looked horrible. I stripped of the clear and painted and cleared the rims. They have been painted for the last 30,000 miles and cleaned up still look great. Here are the most recent pictures
I've been rocking the canopy off and on for the last year, (has the rack on top for my kayaks) but I took those pictures to advertise and sell it. I like it, but I think I like my soft truxedo tonneau cover more. Been a great truck.
