Ranger 2.3 Engine swap 8 plug to 4 plug, help!
I have a 1997 Ranger 2wd with the 8 plug head. My motor blew last week and threw a rod. I have access to a 2.3 4 plug engine (efi) unsure of the year, out of a mustang for super cheap with 85k on it. How hard is the swap going from 8 plug to a 4 plug engine? Do i just get rid of (unplug) the second ignition coil? the intake looks/is different.. can I use the intake off of the mustang or do i need to use the rangers intake (assuming it will bolt up to the mustangs engine)? also are the computers the same? the mustang has an automatic transmission and i have a 5 speed in the ranger and intend to keep it, so the computers probably wouldn't be the same?
Any other advice on any other changes that will need to be made are more than welcome.
