I'm looking to do a d30 swap. I know there's the big debate over the d30 and d44 and people are more partial to the d44 but I'm gonna be doing some wheeling nothing to hardcore and I don't plan on running tires any bigger than 36's. So the d30 should work fine. Also looking for leafs instead of coils. I'm not to familiar with the axles so if anyone can give me some advice on where to start and what things I should research especially.

Might be easier with 44 but 30 is fine.

Have a read here to get started: Ford Ranger Solid Axle Swap (SAS)

I found my axle. Out of a 97 Grand Cherokee. $175 I should be picking it up later this week.

I would recommend not using the ZJ 30. It is low pinion. Get a front axle from a 93-99 XJ. It is high pinion. It is stronger and will help a lot with your driveline angle.

^^^. X2

The D30 is a weak axle to begin with, no sense in getting the weakest variant of it.
