94 xlt front shock broken lower bolt.
At first, was just gonna put on new brake pads, then I thought to myself, hey! Since you are down there(jokes?). Replace my old worn out shocks. So new pads in. All is well, top nut on shock came off without to much pain, bottom nut, well it broken right off. My first thought($&@?). Did some searching through the forums and found that I could grind off the old bolt, drill a new hole and install a replacement. Sweet!
Now, of you more experienced with this situation. How well do these kits work? Will they last? Or is it just a band-aid?
I've never welded before....should I get my truck back on the road and to a local mechanic to have him/her weld the bolt for me?
Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the repIy! I was a little concerned about the replacement bolt being able to handle the stress of road breaking them prematurely. I just finished the drivers side. The shock bolt replacement kit worked nicely. Didn't come with a lock but for the radial arm side, but i I had one in the spare parts drawer. Threw on some loctite for good measure. Seems to be doing nicely! Quick drive around the block and ready for a beer run!
Tomorrow will do the passenger side.
