need help with partial lift kit!

Hello, I'm a poor college student but want to lift my ranger. so i decided to buy the lift in stages. I got a pro comp kit that comes with the drop brackets and sway bar extension and all that stuff, but doesn't come with the springs or shocks or anything that will actually lift my truck. I was wondering if i can install this kit without the actual springs and shocks. or does it need the lift in order for the angles to be correct. the kit is made for 5" of lift and my truck is a 1997 2wd 2.3l. also, can i use this equipment on a different lift height, say if later i get springs that lift my truck 3" instead of the 5" this kit was meant for, will that work? Thanks for the help, Colts27. ps this looks like the kit i bought:

Why would you only install part of the lift?

Just wait till you can afford all of it

I want to install as i get the parts, I wont have alot of time down the road. I start class in a week and all my time will be gone. Do you know if there will be any problems if i install this kit without the lift in it yet?

You are asking for big trouble by installing all the drop brackets without lift springs. Basically your truck will still sit at the same height but everything will be hanging down close to the ground and the control arms will be angled up, not down, so you will have no suspension travel
