I wish i had my truck
hi all. i'm gonna raise the front of my truck by tightening the t-bars, and i have heard the only negative side effect of this is that the ball joints will wear out faster. how will i be able to tell? how can i tell the status of my b.j.'s (uh.....heh heh) now? has anyone else had this problem?

A buddy of mine is a Ford tech and he said when you turn you'll hear clicking, and at around 70mph you'll feel a shaking.
My BJ's have been bad for quite some time and sure enough, around 70 I get the shaking. Not 69, not 71, 70.
They were bad before I did the T-crank so I can't tell you about that.

you would hear a creaking or squeaking sound, not a clicking. To check the ball joints jack the car up by the suspension and try to move the tire back and forth, then up and down. Do the same with the truck jacked up by the frame. This will test the lower ball joints with them loaded and unloaded.
If you feel any play, look behind the wheel at the ball joints and tie rods, if you see movement, that is bad. If you feel play and the ball joint or tie rod ins't moving, it will most likely turn out to be a wheel bearing.
