New suspension parts....torsion crank feels so good
Last week I replaced lower balljoints, upper control arms and tie rods. Ever since then, my ride has been more sensitive than it was with the old parts. Thought an alignment would help, but it didnt change much at all.
The truck handles large bumps and potholes much better, but for some reason when driving over cracks and uneven pavement, it feels like my tires are being forced into the cracks which makes for a clunky ride. After triple checking the torque specs and greasing the joints, I thought the clunk might be the swaybar. So yesterday I installed some new moog sway bushings and endlinks, but no cigar, still sensitive when driving over cracks.
Today I crawled under and checked the torsion bars, and the bolts were only about a quarter of a turn from being loose. Cranked them both a full turn, and the ride is 90% better!!....WTF?
I thought cranking torsion bars makes the ride rougher??? Someone explain this to me, why would new suspension parts make the ride rough, and require me to crank my torsion bars ???

At the moment its 34 1/4" in front on 29s, and I could probably crank that bolt 10x before it maxxed out, thats how much thread is left. Id prolly get the stink bug stance if i did though ...
O and how in the world did you get 83 negative props?? lol
ps i gave you a + so you wouldnt feel so bad haha

hurray i love my truck again!!! Just figured out my rough rode! The upper control arm bushing was binding on the passenger side. What i had to do was loosen it with all the wheels on the ground, so that the truck was sitting at normal ride height. I actually heard a loud pop as i was loosening it. I then torqued it while it was still on the ground, with the weight on the wheels. It was a pain to fit my torque wrench in there but it made 100% difference.
In all the how-tos that ive read, everybody torqued the UCAs while it was still on jackstands, like i did the first three times lol. But i just went on the moog website, and the instructions state not to torque until the wheels are on the ground......so idk i guess thats the proper way.
