Does anyone know of a place to find upper control arms designed for a lifted ranger other than fabtech?? I got in an accident, and the stupid ricer fortunately only did damage to the spindle and control arm, as well as the wheel. I do not want fabtech again. especially for $500! I tried suspensionmax, but they dont offer a ball joint replacement

 

Moog has an upper replacement.

 

Yeah I was going to suggest Moog also. They are good quality and if I remember right they have greaseable ball joints so you don't have to replace the whole thing if you need new ball joints.

 

if you have the fabtech 5.5 lift, you need a aftermarket arm ment for that lift, meaning a dostech(sp?), fabtech, or spingtech upper arm

 

D-T/Pro-Comp/Bullseye doesn't make upper arms for our trucks. The balljoint hole for the Fabtech spindle is the same size as the pin on a new arm like a Moog, it will work.

 

I searched high and low for sprintech or doestch arms, anyone know where to find them? moog is the same measurements as oem, they just have replaceable ball joints. and won't work with the full 5.5" lift. I would have to remove the springs, to get proper alignment.

With the moog being the same exact measurement and design as factory, the wheels won't have enough camber adjustment. I don't want my wheels to angle in.

if you look at the kits, theres a part number for their upper arm: 73049

 

The Fabtech arms are the same as factory too, the only reason they add a wider stance is from the spindle.

The arms are for XLT's (I was mistaken and thought he had an Edge). I've seen the whole kits on them before and it is a nice suspension, but they won't work on Edge's. The arms are completely different on Edge's/XLT's; the mounts are wider and the arm is wider as well.

 

have you compared the xlt fabtech arms with stock arms?

when you lift a coil spring with a lifting coil, it pulls the spindle/upper am down more, and places the upper balljoint closer to the frame, the replacement upper arm should be longer, to keep that upper balljoint away from the frame

if the fabtech arm is the same as stock, then how can it be alignable?

honestly, I have yet to see these in person myself, so maybe i am mistaken, I have however installed the coils before and had to take them out because i needed a longer upper arm to align it

This is the same thing when lowering a ranger, in order to lower it more then 3inchs and have it still alignable, you have to get the different aftermarket upper arms from DJM or ChasisTech

 

I've put coil kits on trucks before and never have needed a longer arm. Some trucks require them, like S-10's and some Chevy's, but on a Ranger I've not had to do it.

 

Yeah I've placed them together, i took the fabtech off the left side which didn't get damaged, and compared it to my original factory arm. The fabtech is over an inch longer and has more of a downward angle than factory. I would buy more fabtech arms, if the idiots insurance would cover the damage, but according to some stupid loophole, they are only obligated to replace OEM parts. I have had my attorney check into this, and he has found that the only thing I can do is use my own insurance, pay the deductible, and let them pursue the other driver, or his insurance company. My only problem with that is I could buy the arms easier than dealing with that hassle. The body shop figured in the fabtech arms during the estimate. The other a$$holes ins. company sent out an adjuster that ended up disputing the claim

 

Call Suspensionmax on ebay. They sell Springtech UCA's for like $300 shipped.

 

Yeah I called suspensionmax. the sales rep said i need to use my original ball joints, which aren't removable. Maybe the rep was an idiot. I'll try again tomorrow. thanks

 

you can remove your upper stock balljoints, you can also buy replacement upper balljoints without getting an entire arm

its just a PITA

 

Yeah I would use the ball joints, but the one is F'd up now.
