Tire size for a 4-cylinder

For all you 4 banger guys, what is a decent tire size to run without killing the 4 banger? I have 30's currently, but want to go up to 33's, thoughts?

P.S. 4" suspension lift, 1" body lift, stock gears.

I had 33's and 3.73's on my 4 banger for a while. It was a dog but it was to begin with. Then I bumped up to 4.10's and it was better. It has to do with gearing not so much the motor.

If you regear to 4.56's it will be fine.

Well tires are going to happen before regearing because I will upgrade my rear to an 8.8. It feels like a dog now, but then again I used to drive a BMW with some work done to it.

I'm running 31s on 4.56 gears, and it does great. It is still the same truck as when I had the stock 29s (235/75/r15).

I am just worried that if I go up to 33's, it will be terribly slow (not that it is fast from the start).

It will defiantly be slow and you will be using a lot of 4th gear. But if you are going to regear I would still do 33's.

I'm not 4x4 like you but I have 31's with 4.10's and its perfect. What gears do you have now? If your game to regear, I think 33's would be ok but personally wouldn't go any bigger on a 4 banger.

I will be regearing eventually, and I believe I currently have 3.73's.
