How to buy the right wheels?

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger Xlt. I have some ideas in mind about what wheels i want, but i was wondering how do i know if the wheels i buy will fit my lug pattern? As well, if there are any other things i should take into consideration when buying wheels please let me know. Thanks.

You lug pattern is 5x4.5. Also backspacing will need to be accounted for.

Oh ok, thanks. So backspacing would be like adding spacers behind my wheels to make them stick out farther right? Also, i wanted to by some Aero Racing wheels, like for stock cars. But i don't know if they have that pattern for my truck. do you think it could work?

No backspacing is no spacers. Just google it and you should get your answers.

And you can get spacers to make wheels fit.

read here. good info.

stock wheels are probably 15x7 or 16x7, and have 4.5" backspacing. lower backspacing means it will stick out more, higher backspacing means it goes in more.
