my body lift just arrived from summit it is much nicer then i excepted ...!!!! now is there anything i should do or know before attempting to put this thing on ?
Attachment 209494 Attachment 209495 this is the summit brand body lift looks to be quite nice for the $121 i paid for it ! |
the funny thing is.....PA makes Summit brand body kits
this is the same thing i thought but they look completely different ... so i assume they make them but their not the exact same .. but im really happy with it
only difference is PA's front bumper brackets are either black or anadoized....can't remember which, but they are not raw metal......
everything else is the same... |
Sweet man, one thing you will need to do is heat up the bottom of you cab bolts with a torch to melt away the lock-tight on the threads or else they are going to be a b**** to get off.
BTW does it say anywhere on the instructions, the size of the cab bolts that come in the kit, i need to get new ones but dont know the size. If you could help me out that would be great. |
no man im sorry it dose not say the stock size ... but it dose say the new size ... but thanks for the advice anyone know about how long this will take to install ?
Sorry i should have clarified a little more the new bolt size, is the size that i need.
Here is a write up from TRS http://www.therangerstation.com/tech..._BodyLift.html Also it took me and one of my buddies about 10 hours to complete. |

well i was going to try to install it tomorrow morning but i think i might wait ... can i do the bed one day and then the cab another ? or will it mess something us ?
it wont mess with anything....it will look funny because the bed will be 3" taller than the cab and NO body line will line up....
so it should take about 4 hours for the bed and 4 for the cab ? if so then i can do one one day and the other the next...
I can't wait to get mine. I hope I dont have a hard time putting it on. Good luck with yours.
get some of the member up there to do yours... hell thats like the mecca of bodylifts ! ahahahah and thanks ill do my best :privateey
Yea I got a buddy thats going to help me with mine and he's done a few already so hopfully we shouldnt have any problems.
please please please take lots of pic, im thinking about doing a body lift after my 4inch IFS lift (this weekend im doing the 4" iFS)
and good luck! |
its not that bad me and about 7-8 other people put on 2 bodies lifts on differ trucks in about 6hrs. So if you have enough people it should be pretty easy and quick
congrats on the purchase
i get mine put on in 2 weeks so im excited too make sure you post pics |
Nice! You can't beat that price. Ranger's are about the only truck that can pull off a bodylift because of the very small amoun of frame they show. Good luck with the install.

Spray those bolts (hold frame to body) with some PB Blaster or something similiar at least a week before at least once a day, trust me youll be happy you did, if you don't you will experience unwanted headaches, cut bolts, cut nuts, extra cuts on hands ect........ and you always want to keep your nuts........ especially since you are suppose to reuse them with the new bolts............
ill try to keep track of my nuts... but sometimes i lose them ... :sly:
i dont have a week to soak the bolts i got one night ahahhaha we will see how its gose ill do the bed frist...
well, he's right thought. PB Blaster is a godsend. spraying them the day before and even the day of and during will help. we are lucky though, being down here where we don't have to deal with road salt and stuff. apparently that just makes new bolts equal 10 year old bolts. seriously, borrow someone's car (since you messed yours up) and go to the auto parts store and pick some up.
the bed of the truck is the easiest part. you should have that done in no time. it's really not an even split on time....2 hours for the rear (it's lighter and more straight forward). the front will just take longer (4 hours) b/c of all the damn things to unbolt and move around other than the actual body mount bolts. |
Man 8 hours to do it? I would think you would take the 8 bolts out of the bed with an 3/8 impact, lift bed so it sits on rear bumper and tire and place all lift blocks down, then place bed back down and reattach. Im sure it cant take that long....
it also helps to heat the bolts a little when you remove them
