2009 Ranger 2.3 Coolant in plug well...
Hey guys. New to the forum. I have an issue with my 2009 Ranger 2.3. It started to run a little rough yesterday morning, especially bucking hard when at a lower RPM in a higher gear like doing 25 mph in 4th for example. It spit out code P0301, misfire on cylinder 1. So I pulled the plug wire and the plug, plug well, and boot for the wire had a bunch of coolant and corrosion on them. Pulled the other plug wires and no issues, plugs and wells look clean. There are no obvious cracks or leaks that I can see after I removed it and the seals look fine. Pulled the valve cover as well and no issues there either. Upon further inspection the plug that came from the problem well has almost no corrosion on the threads, maybe just a little coolant seapage, but mostly it's all above the cup/cone seal on the plug on the end the wire goes onto so I know it's not coming from underneath which I think means the head gasket is alright. I tried researching pretty extensively online and the main answer I came up with is intake manifold failure. There are no obvious cracks or leaks that I can see after I removed it and the seals look fine but it's hard to tell, at least for a dumby like me, if something is wrong internally. I'm really hoping this is the case and that I'm not dealing with a cracked head or something gnarly like that. Any other ideas? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
