Starter bolt thread question???
It has been a while since I have posted anything here because I have had no issues that were of concern or that I could not figure out but...
The last time that I removed the OEM starter for replacement I noticed that one of the three mounting bolts was very difficult to remove and that upon further inspection I noticed that the threads had traces of the metal from the holes they screw into.
I have heard of seizing and galling before and believe this is what this is. If I am able to thread them back in when I reinstall the new starter should I do anything to address this issue first like use thread anti seize? Should I clean the threads on the bolts and remove all trace of the metal that is clogging them or just leave well enough alone?
How about a thread chaser to clean them up?
Any opinion/suggestions/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
