Hello all New to the fourm. Just got a cheap 94 ranger with the 2.3 4 cyl. engine. it idiels fine but when you step on the gas the engine dies. new fuel filter installed, truck has 112000 miles on it. Manual tranny 2 wheel drive any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Norman

 

Any check engine light?
Any hard starting?
Did it run when you first got it or has it had this issue from the beginning?

That's a good price. I have a 94 2.3l as well with 367K miles. It has been a good truck from day 1. The parts are cheap too. Usually with this type of issue, it will give you some sort of code. Maybe your CEL is no good. Get a OBD1 reader, it's like $20.

Any idea what your fuel pressure is doing? Suffolk guy here too
