You know I really didn't realize how much power it really had lost until I did a major tune up again.
Plugs
wires
TPS sensor
timing belt kit
water pump
fan belt
exhaust work
just to name a few things.
It now has almost 152,000 miles on it and I think it has as much power as it did when it was new. I love my old truck again.

27-28mpg city driving 2.3 with a 5 speed behind it in my 07

29-32 mpg average on highway going 75+ duratech is more efficient in my truck going 75+ than going 65-75.

8k on my 07 I rarely drive it since i got the bike.

My 97 had 122k on it when I sold it in April 08. I hadn't had a minutes trouble out of the truck-the only thing I really did was general maintenance items. It'd get 25-27 MPG normally with the 2.3/5 speed. It was a great truck.

How in the world do you get that good of gas mileage? Also, what is the name of the gadget you got monitoring the gas mileage? I see something "Gauge."

Its a "ScanGauge". You can get them at a couple of our fine retailers, and if I'm not mistaken, they run around $200?

I have 180,600 on my 1997 2.3/5 speed. Runs like brand new, and uses no oil. Just recently replaced the "fun side" plugs, which were original.

I've got a 2000 XLT 2wd 5 speed man trans with 118,000ish miles.
I don't know what my mpg is but if I had to guess I would say around 23 High Way, witch I believe is quick small amount. I average about 400 miles per tank.

I average 400 miles per tank, putting in 14 gals, and that makes 28.57mpg.

'96 2.3L, 2WD, just reached 280000 kms (~175000 mi). Owned it 3.5 yrs, put 75000km on it myself. Only issues have been alternator/starter/battery, belt tensioner, fuel tank strap.

I get about 24mpg, mostly highway.

I need to replace plugs/wires. Just bought some new rims (10 hole Explorer wheels) that I'm going to repaint (lots of surface damage but at $60 for the set with tires they're hard to ignore) to replace the little stock 14" rims and tires (maybe up to 31s with a new gears...maybe).
