Roll of the dice! I have done several Ford pump replacements and some are fairly quiet and others not.

Some may not know this but FORD invented the Volume Control on Car radios
When power steering was first used on Fords it was way TOO LOUD
Engineers could not get it quieter
So they added a volume control on the radio, previous radios just had on/off button
So driver could then turn radio louder
All true, I swear on a block of ice

Just remember that all noises go away with a loud stereo!
When I was turning wrenches for a living I hated when a customer would turn the radio off and drive around and then come back to complain about other "NEW" noises they thought were related to the repair!! LOL
