Over heating / oil pressure gauge pegged past H
Hello all,
EDIT: 2001 Ford Ranger
So today I was driving and the temp gauge pegged. I pulled over and noticed that the upper radiator hose was flattened. I let it cool off and put in anti freeze. the hose returned to normal shape. The temp gauge was about halfway up so I pulled over again to put in more antifreeze. Then, when I continued driving home, the oil pressure guage was pegged past high. I am definitley replacing the hose before driving again, but I'm wondering if this a problem anyone else has had and what other parts might need replacing.
Thanks.

Assuming a 1983 to 2000 Ranger 4cyl
Good info to include
Its not a hose issue, most likely the rad cap is bad
Hose is getting flat because coolant can flow back in from overflow tank, so check the overflow hose and the tank as well, tank needs to be cleaned now and then, and hose blown out
If its a 1990 and up Ranger there is a oil pressure switch, so gauge going to high is an electrical issue

Thanks for the response. I will plan on replacing the cap as well. Also, the truck is a 2001, I will go back and edit.
Could this also cause the issue with the oil gauge? I'm gonna go ahead and change the oil filter as well.

2001 Ranger has an oil pressure switch, so its either open(0 psi) or closed(above 6psi), needle on gauge goes up or down based on vehicle voltage, nothing to do with oil pressure unless its under 6psi, then 0 on gauge
You can unplug the oil switch wire and Ground its green/white wire, then turn on the key(engine off), should see needle in "Normal" range, if it shows HIGH then problem is the gauge
