rich exhaust

ive noticed latly a rich smell from the exhaust first thing im going to clean the maf and throttle body i am running a K@N so i think that has something to do with it but what else should i check?

o and no CEL's and the truck runs and drive fine just a rich smell from the exhaust

Ford MAF's need pretty regular cleaning. Just be careful because they are delicate damned things and any little thing can knock them out of sync with the TPS.

doubtful its the maf, but its always good to clean. use MAF cleaner. however you could be sucking in extra air causing the o2's to read lean and compinsate. check your vacume lines and any other hoses coming in or out from the engine.

**edit pull a plug and check that as well

MAF's on these trucks talk with the throttle position sensor and are often a cause for running rich. Been through this issue once on mine where it would hardly run. Cleaned the MAF and it mostly fixed the issue. Cleaning won't save a failing MAF though.
