swap to a bigger radiator
swap to a bigger radiator
Hi, I'm new here and I hope I'm posting my question at right place
I have a question about my truck's cooling system,
1996 Mazda B2300 Base 2.3L ''4cyl.''
I would like to replace/upgrade my truck stock
1 row radiator with a 2/3 row radiator! There's plenty stock (single row ) radiators out there for my 4Cyl. truck, but I want a bigger radiator! It gets hot hot hot here in Pam Desert CA.
There are 2/3 row radiators for trucks like mine, but they are for a 6Cyl. they have the water hose/radiator cap on opposite sides!
However I might be able to make it work as long as the radiator base and bolt brackets are the same! I have not been able to verify the bolt pattern or bracket measurements.
Have anybody swapped a 2/3 row radiator to a 4Cyl. on a 96 B2300/ranger?
Does anybody know if the base/bolt/bracket for radiator is the same?
I'd really appreciate any advice. I hope to hear back from you guys Thank You.

Welcome to the forum
Biggest issue with your 2.3l SOHC Lima engine is trying to keep them warm, overheating was never ever an issue with these engines, they just don't generate a lot of heat and in cold climates people have to block air flow thru the grill to keep heater working, radiator is never used at all in the winter
Anyway, see if there is a 2.3l radiator for an automatic with AC, that should be a dual core and bolt it in
You will need a dual core fan shroud as the single core shroud will be too close to pulleys because its an inch or too farther back on a dual core
