have you checked your air filter lately? and if that o2 sensor could be telling the computer to dump more fuel into the engine. the same could also occur with a dirty air filter

the power was out at my dads shop so i couldn't do much.

i pulled the o2 sensor out and it was bright red, i guess thats getting replaced soon...

as far as the air filter, i have a k&n open filter on my stock intake with an adapter on the maf, its been on my truck for about 20k, so it should be fine still.

i cleaned the maf after i hydrolocked my old engine, and that was less then 3k ago.

Personally, I would rather spend $75 on an O2 sensor and maybe fix the problem then buy a whole new car?

But maybe my logic is bad. I mean $75 may not be cheaper then $10K-20K.

TDI is the diesel Jetta right? Have you see the price of diesel lately? You may be complaining about gas mileage right now, but think about how much you'll be complaining when you have to put all that extra money into the gas tank for the fuel, PLUS a car payment, PLUS a higher insurance payment.

it would be an older jetta, insurance would be the same, if not cheaper.

they get 45-55mpg, it would be worth it and pay self off.

im going to throw a sensor at it, but i don't think thats what the main problem is.

btw, the muffler is off a mustang, it had almost no miles on it.

the guy had flowmasters put on so we saved the old mufflers.

Ha, mine too. I usually get 14mpg 95% city with my 4.0 but my dad gets much better than that with his 5.3L tahoe. I then made the mistake of putting 3 bottles of fuel injector cleaner in at once since they were on sale at autozone for a buck a peice and now I am looking at 200mi(hopefully) to the tank(19.5 gal) not worth it at all.
