I was playing on the net and came across a web page on removing a part in the air intake. Out of bordom, I did it on my ranger. Im just curious to see what you guys think of it and also if the HP gain is legit. this is the websire I found it on. Free 10 hp 2.3L mod! - Getting the most out of the Ford 2.3L Engine Website

From quickly reading that website moth methods were a failure. The dry duct failed in less than 1k miles, and the tube mod gave a check engine light. I would avoid those sort of mods, where is this documented 10hp, lol.

A noticeable increase in power wont come cheap. Sell it and buy a truck or car with a more powerful engine or spend the money and turbo in your truck.

Horsepower is just a question of money. How fast do you want to go?

Naturally I want to go fast. Money is always the issue. I can barely afford to keep my truck running, let alone mod it in any way. are cold air intake systems worth the money at all?

A cold air intake wont do anything. You will get like 1 hp increase if that. Save your money and just drive your truck.

Good advice....I'm just glad I'm not into performance modding these days. Last 2 cars - nearly 900whp combined, and I don't miss the HP. Probably because I'm getting older. And my weak 2.3 still hauls 6x12 U-Haul trailers up and down the hills every few days with no problems, so far.
