My r2003 Ranger 3.0 engine...anger would not start. Engine turned but would not start.
Had. fuel pump installed and thought that fixed it but the next day it would not start
For a week it's the same thing ...
Starets one day not the next
Runs great when it starts

Looking for some ideas...

Welcome to the forum

So engine still turns but no start

Do 50/50test
Spray gasoline or ether into the engine directly
Try to start
If it starts and then dies then you still have fuel system problem
If it doesn't start then its a spark problem
50/50 instant results

On the dash there is the CEL(check engine light)
With key on the CEL should come on, that means computer has come on OK
When engine starts to turn CEL should go OFF, that means computer is getting a good timing signal so will start spark and then send fuel to the engine, if CEL stays on engine will never start

LISTEN
When you turn on the key you can HEAR the fuel pump run for 2 seconds, its not quiet, but only runs for 2 seconds
Turn key off and on several times until you KNOW what it sounds like, doesn't hurt anything, to do this
Next time there is a no start...........listen

New Fuel pump just means untested fuel pump, no longer means tested and working, they give you a warranty, which means "YOU TEST IT, and we will replace it if it stops working"

Hey Man, sorry I haven't replied sooner. Lots going on...

Wife and I had Covid and it was not good. I'm 77 so it was rough

We had tried most of what you suggested and still nothing.

Short story is finally discovered the old fuel pump died slowly and sucking too many amps burned the connector for the inertia switch almost all the way off.

Replaced it and me and my Ranger are happy...

Thanks for your help

I'm new to the forum and just learning my way around...

I looked at several parts sites and none had an inertia switch listed.
Where did you get your replacement?
