1987 ranger trans swap help

Working on a 87 2.9 5speed. Swapping back to automatic. Truck was auto origannally, but we changed to 5 speed several years ago. Now we are swapping back to auto. We bought a motor and trans together out of a 87, and our motor and trans was bought together as well when we changed motor and trans to use the 5 speed. So basically what I'm doing is trying to put an auto trans on to it the motor from the 5 speed. I used the flywheel and crank spacer off the auto motor, put the auto trans in and let won't go far enough up to bolt to the motor. The converter is lined up and all four bolts are thru the flywheel. But the converter is still against trans bell housing and I'm about 1/2" from the block. Both motors are from an 87. Only difference is one was auto and other was 5 speed. Do I need a different flywheel to use with out the crank spacer? The auto flywheel won't fit over the crank where the pilot bushing is is why I used the spacer. A any suggestions is appreciated.

Converter is lined up

Does that mean you rotated it so it slid all the way into transmission to lock into front pump slots?
Should slide in 2 or 3 times as tabs and slots line up inside the transmission.
If you force it it WILL break front pump and trans would need to be rebuilt

Flexplate is what you are using, flywheel is for clutch setup

Converter all the way against bell housing and bolts are thru flex plate. Convert is hitting bell housing in back and flex plate in front. I think we need to take the spacer out and grind the flange down outside of where pilot bearing goes. Our flex plate don't fit over the flange. That's why I used the spacer

D4ZZ 6434 A is the part number of the spacer for A4LD and flexplate

Never did this on A4LD automatic so just asking....could the flex plate be on backwards?
Sticking out instead of in at the edges
