1997 ford ranger 4x4 engine question

I have a 1997 ford ranger 4x4. Will a long block form the years 1986 to 1991 fit in this truck? The truck has a 5speed manuel trans. I can get a good deal on this block. The truck has a 3.0 v6 and so is the block in question.

That is what the ad says. It is a 1986 to 1991 longblock. I am not sure when the 3.0 was first used.
