2003 XLT 5 speed, Won't Start, Little or No Power
Hello, This is a classic Ford Ranger XLT 5 speed. The battery was tested at O'Reilly's Auto Parts about a week ago and tested as "good." Few days ago I added Sea Foam gas treatment and Sea Foam spray lube into the intake and ran it for about 20 minutes. The next morning the motor wouldn't even turn over. The dashboard battery gauge was showing very low power. No headlights or dash lights would come on. Probably the ground wire to the battery is the cause here. In effort to save everyone some time here I already posted this in the Introduction of the forum and Jeff R 1 responded...

Welcome to the forum.
No power at all ???
Do the dash lights come on when the key is turned to the "ON" position ?
Does it turn over, but no start ?
When the key is off, do the brake lights and interior door lights work ?
I'm thinking you have a bad ground or grounds.
A common problem is for the negative battery cable to come lose on the engine block.
There is also a ground wire at the back of the drivers side head that's for the PCM.
The stud that it attaches too on the fire wall is painted green, sometimes the paint prevents a proper ground.
It's awkward to get at on the head, so be prepared.
Could also be bad cables at the battery and/or internal corroded connections inside the battery cables _ + and - .
Could be a problem with the PATS too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
So I am currently trying to check some or all of those things now. I'm also wondering if I was too rough on the motor after I had applied the Sea Foam spray bc I did rev up the motor hard a few times in order to help clean the engine, white smoke came out of the Ranger's tailpipe.

The 3 liter is a high revving engine, I routinely rev mine to 4 or even 5000 rpm shifting through the gears. You weren't too rough on the engine.
If you added the Sea Foam directly into the air intake, then clean your MAF sensor _ use the special cleaner for it and don't touch it with you fingers or use Q-Tips.
The smoke is the Sea Foam burning off, it will stop after a while.
Sea Foam is good for preventing carbon build up, but does little too nothing on cleaning carbon deposits.
Don't pour the Sea Foam into the engine, and hydro-lock it like I did.
They make a product in a spray can, where it's put in just past the throttle valve, but again, in my opinion, if the engine is carboned up and or the throttle body is dirty, Sea Foam will do nothing for you.

Understood. The mobile mechanic will probably have the right shtuff to clean MAF, if not I'll do it me self after truck is hopefully repaired later this afternoon.
You all have done your best to help me, I commend you. Wish I had your knowledge and more but this amazing forum definitely does help! Especially since this is a holiday weekend. Thanks again guys.
